Jimmy Edward King Sr. was born January 25, 1942 at Paris, Texas to Lois Medsker King. He married Mary Dell Starnes on April 1, 1961 in Hawkins, Texas. He died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian WNJ Hospital in Sherman, Texas at the age of 69. He was a resident of Whitewright, Texas. Jim spent his life in a career in retail sales in the grocery business. After retiring he worked as a bus driver for the Whitewright ISD. He served his nation in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Whitewright. He is survived by wife, Mary Dell King of Whitewright; daughter, Cheryl Garrett and husband Tim of Whitewright; son, J.J. King of Allen; grandchildren, Tavis, Laycee, and Lexton; sister, Sue Higgs of Garland; sister-in-law, Myra Babin and husband Bob of Katy; sister-in-law Gayla Cottrell and husband Lonnie of White Oak; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved granddogs. He was preceded in death by his mother; and his grandmother, Gertie. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Mike Rutledge. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Babin, Lonnie Cottrell, Jim Rogers, Lee Braly, Jerry Hanson, Scott Hanson. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
