Jim Florence, age 71, of McKinney, Texas, passed away July 8, 2014. Jim was born July 30, 1942, in Princeton, Texas, to Austin D. and Onella (McClendon) Florence. He retired from Texas Instruments after thirty-seven years. After retirement, Jim was employed for ten years at the University of Texas in Arlington in the Nano Lab.
He is survived by his daughters, Connie Luna and husband, Wayne of McKinney, Texas and Sherry Sadler and husband, Billy, also of McKinney; son, Danny Florence and wife, Judy of McKinney; grandchildren, Stacie Weever and husband, Grant of Allen, Texas, Stefani Mitchell and husband, Chad, Josh Luna and wife, Katie, A. J. Florence, Matthew Sadler, Montana Sadler, and Bailey Florence, all of McKinney; great-grandchildren, Luke, Sevin, Kailey, Xander, and Dakota; sister, Patsy Arnold and husband, Butch of Princeton, Texas; and niece, Heather Farmer and husband, Chris of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Nevada Cemetery in Nevada, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
