Jewel Dene Crawford, age 78, of Rowlett, Texas, passed away January 17, 2010. Mrs. Crawford was born on January 17, 1932, in Blossom, Texas, to James Buford and Dovie Lorene (Hines) Tidwell. She grew up in the Clarksville, Texas area. Jewel worked for the Resistol Hat Factory in Garland, Texas, for fifteen years, and later worked for GTM Plastics as an assembly line worker for fifteen years. Jewel enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She was a member of New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Garland, where she was actively involved. Jewel is survived by her sons, James Crawford and wife Debra, of Princeton, Texas; Gary Crawford and wife Teri, of Crandall, Texas; Mikel Crawford of Princeton; and Johnny Crawford and wife Donna, of Rowlett, Texas; and a daughter, Joan Biggs of Merit, Texas; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Travis Tidwell, Donald Tidwell, Lewis Stevens, and John Henry Stevens; sisters, Effie Dryden, Dorothy Hudson, Beaulah Peacock, and Faye Hayes; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, five brothers, and four sisters. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 21, 2010, in the Turrentine- Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Rev. Ken Ashlock officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation at 7:00p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
