Jerry Franklin Covington, Sr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Jerry Franklin Covington, Sr., 75 year old Leonard resident, are scheduled for Thursday May 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Leonard.  Brother Dewey Watson and Charles Wrenn will officiate.  Burial will be in the Leonard Cemetery.  Family visitation will be Wednesday May 25, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard.

Mr. Covington was born January 4, 1941 at Allen.  His parents were Johnnie Franklin and Lena Belle Collinsworth Covington.  He married Barbara Ellen Wigington January 31, 1959 at Plano.  He was a graduate of Plano High School, a member of the First Baptist Church of Leonard, he worked at the DeSoto Paint Company in Garland until his retirement, and he also owned Happy Times Day Care in Leonard for 10 years. He passed away Monday May 23, 2016 at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. 

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Betsy Covington of Allen; his son, Jeff Covington of Leonard, his daughter, Lorrie Covington of Leonard, his brother, Freddie Covington of Princeton; his six grandchildren, Amanda Capps and husband, Michael, of Tyler, Anna Covington, Joshua Little and Sara Covington, all of Allen, Ericia Phillips and husband Karl of Pfafftown, North Carolina and Jeremy Little of Houston; his two great-grandchildren, Gavin Little of Leonard and Benjamin Capps of Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home of Leonard is in charge of arrangements.
