IN LOVING MEMORY

Jerry Reid Adams

May 28 1932 - May 27 2014

Jerry Reid Adams, of Watauga, Texas, passed away on May 27, 2014.  He was born May 28, 1932 in Barbour County, Alabama to Odie Reid Adams and Alma Scroggins Adams.  In 1953 Jerry Adams and Jeanetta Mozell Honea were married in McKinney, Texas.  Jerry served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1969.  He was an aircraft and engine technician and an instructor.  He was stationed at many Air Force bases in the states and also in Korea, Japan and Thailand.

He and Jeanetta have many lasting friendships throughout the United States.  Jerry was an aircraft maintenance instructor at Tarrant County College from 1977 to 1992.  He was also an automotive maintenance technician for four years.

Jerry served as a member of the Watauga City Council for several terms and served on various boards and committees in the city.

After retirement Jerry designed and built musical instruments such as dulcimers, hammered dulcimers, small harps and balalaikas.

Our family times were enriched with Jerry’s tales of his boyhood in rural Alabama.  He knew many funny stories and could always make us laugh.  He was proud of his working jobs in Louisville, Alabama as a boy; he delivered groceries around town on his bicycle; he helped paint houses; he drove a tractor at the nearby lumberyard; he played football in high school and in one class helped with dipping poles in creosote.  His last job before the Air Force was operating the motion picture projector in the local picture show.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jeanetta Adams of Watauga, Texas; children, Timothy Reid Adams and wife Patricia of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Janet Brett and husband Bob of Fort Worth, Texas, Philip E. Adams and wife Lynda of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Kristin Botello and husband Ernest of Moore and Joshua Reid Adams of Plano, Texas; great-grandchildren, Alex and Abby Botello; brother, Felix Adams of Dothan, Alabama; and sister, Merle Hancock and husband Francis of Senoia, Georgia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Odie Reid and Alma Scroggins Adams and brother, Howard Adams.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment with military honors will follow at Wilson Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Saturday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
