Jerrette (Jerry) Claude Millsap

Jerry Millsap, 80, passed away June 4, 2015. He was born in Hominy, Oklahoma on December 20, 1934. Jerry attended Hominy High School and entered the Army in 1952. He served in Okinawa and ended his Army career in 1955. Jerry began his teaching career at Jones High School and moved to a long term assignment at Del City High School. He ended his teaching career as a professor at Oscar Rose Jr. College, now called Rose State College. Jerry lived in Del City, Oklahoma from 1961 until 2014 when he moved in with his daughter in McKinney, Texas. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, trapper, artist, carpenter, and birder. Always smiling and looking for ways to make people laugh, Jerry was a wonderful parent and Papa and doted on his children and grandchildren always.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeanne Millsap of Chicago and Cheryl Miller of Dallas; and grandchildren, Mitch, Molly, Mary Elise Miller and Houston Millsap.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruby Millsap, brothers, Jackie and J. R., sister, Katherine Johnson, infant son, Jerry Charles, and his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Shirley Millsap.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015, at A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma.  The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
