Jeannie Millender

Jeannie Millender, 44, of Plano, died Friday, June 20, 2008, at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Her husband of 20 years, Max Millender, and daughter Megan, were at her side at the time of her death. Jeannie was the former managing editor of the Plano Insider, a weekly newspaper for Star Community Newspapers. She also served as photography editor for the Frisco Enterprise and worked on the Web sites for all the Star Community Newspapers. Her start with the company came in the classified sales department. She and Max married on Feb. 14, 1988 in Wichita Falls. They enjoyed a love for computers, building Web sites, all things electronic and especially shared a love for motorcycles. Jeannie is survived by Max, Megan of Garland, brothers, John Hicks of Wichita Falls, Dave Hicks of Portland, Oregon, Matthew Hicks of Punta Forda, Florida, and Michael Hicks of Daytona, Florida; father and step-mother William and Marianne Hicks of Punta Gorda, Florida; mother and father-in-law, Rose and Marion Millender of Wichita Falls and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gail Knox; and brother, David Hicks. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. The family will receive friends for a night of remembrance gathering at 6 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway, Allen, Texas 75013.
