Jean Baker Asbury Williams

Jean Baker Asbury Williams enjoyed life from March 14, 1908 until September 3, 2006. She was born in Trenton, Missouri to Blanche and Edward Baker and was raised in Denver, CO along with her younger brother Carlyle. She graduated from Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley with a Masters degree in education. She taught for many years in Cripple Creek, CO and also served as a principal. She was married to William Penn Asbury of Cripple Creek, on July 26, 1941 in Raton, New Mexico. Son Mark William was born to them January 11, 1948 in Denver. Following retirement, the couple relocated to Phoenix, AZ in 1968 and enjoyed the sun, climate, golf, painting and bird watching. This loving wife cared for her husband until William passed away in 1978. Jean relocated to Dallas where she met and eventually married James R. Williams in 1982. They moved to Fort Meyers, FL where they were later joined by his daughter Miriam Jones and her husband Bob. They enjoyed many years together and traveled extensively. She also lovingly cared for James until his passing in 1995 and Jean again relocated to Dallas to be near her son and his family, including his wife Lyn, their daughter Kerri and their son Kip. She had many friends in the area and she also enjoyed bridge, helping others and loved being with her immediate and extended families. She passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of September 3, 2006 at her home in Richardson. She will be deeply missed and remembered very fondly by those who knew and loved her. Our family would like to thank you for all your love, support and prayers over all these years with mom. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 9, 2006 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 1515 North Greenville Ave., Allen, TX with Father Tim Church officiating. Inurnment will take place at Webb Chapel Cemetery in Farmers Branch, TX at a date and time to be determined. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Services (214-689-2648), who provided such wonderful care for Jean in her last days and for whom Jean had such a great respect and whom she had supported through the years.
