Jan DeWaal Nel, age 14, of Allen, Texas passed away December 24, 2009. He was born April 7, 1995 in Pretoria, South Africa to Jan and Denise (Swanepoel) Nel. DeWaal was an 8th grader at Ereckson Middle School in Allen where he played football. He enjoyed spending time with his friends. DeWaal attended First Baptist Church in Allen. He is survived by his mother, Denise Nel of Allen, Texas; father, Jan Nel of Centurion, South Africa; aunt, Sonja Van Der Westhuizen, her husband, Paul and their children of South Kilvington, England; grandparents, Swannie and Elsa Swanepoel of Centurion, South Africa, Jaap and Mary Badenhorst of Centurion, South Africa; great-grandmother, San De Waal of Centurion, South Africa and a host of other loving family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Allen, Texas with Pastor Chad Selph officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Wednesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
