James Edward Yowell

James Edward Yowell , a faithful believer in Jesus Christ; was born December 7, 1929 to Robert E. and Mary E. Hopper Yowell. He grew up and went to school in Tom Bean, Texas. He married Joyce E. Meek on July 7, 1951in Fort Worth, Texas. He went to be with Jesus on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Sherman Healthcare in Sherman, Texas at the age of 84.

James served abroad in the United States Army during the Korean War, after an honorable discharge from the Army he worked in the grocery business and was employed by A&P Grocery for many years. After A& P Grocery was no longer located in Texas he remained in the grocery business and worked for Gibson’s, Piggly Wiggly and Tom Thumb.

James is a dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert E. and Mary E. Yowell, one sister Gladys, five brothers, T.J, Grady, Claude, Robert and Nyal.

James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce E. Yowell and six children, all residing in Texas. Three Daughters, Dian McDaniel of Ponder, Beccy Roberts of Howe, Nancy Watson of Sherman, and three sons, James E. Yowell Jr., Preston Yowell and Daniel Yowell all of Tom Bean.
James is grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday July 2nd at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Tom Bean on Highway 11.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 1:00pm at Vittitoe Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Rev. Charles Morris. Pallbearers for the service are James’ grandsons, Scott McDaniel of Ponder, Jon Roberts of McKinney, Andy Roberts of Howe, Danny Yowell of Tom Bean, Manual Watson of Howe, Leif Watson of Sherman, Levi Watson of Sherman and Cody Watson of Sherman.
