James Nathan Wilmeth

James Nathan Wilmeth, age 77, of McKinney, Texas was celebrated to his heavenly home February 3, 2011. Jim, the great-great grandson of J.B. Wilmeth, one of the founders of McKinney, was born November 20, 1933 in McKinney, Texas to James Dow Wilmeth and Ophelia (Webb) Wilmeth. On June 1, 1957 he married Jeanette Louise Reid in Ft. Worth, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jim lived in McKinney until the age of 10. He moved to Houston where he graduated from high school. After his military service Jim moved to Ft. Worth in 1957. During this time he was in sales with American Can in different states. Jim moved back to McKinney in 1976 to fulfill his lifelong dream of farming the family land. After his retirement he and his wife traveled the country in a motor home for Mrs. Wilmeth’s job. Jim enjoyed woodworking and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, McKinney, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanette Wilmeth of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Teresa Moncier and husband, Terry of Whitewright, Texas, Melissa Bird and husband, Alan of McKinney, Texas and Dee Blackwell and husband, Allen of Gurdon, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and sister, Nancy Carol Buck of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dow and Ophelia Wilmeth. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 7, 2011 at First Baptist Church of McKinney with Rev. Randy Morlan officiating. Following services a reception will be held in the chapel at the First Baptist Church in McKinney. Interment will be held at McLarry Cemetery, McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church missions or youth ministries, 1615 West Louisiana Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
