James D. Wells

Mr. James D. Wells of McKinney, TX passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 in McKinney, TX at the age of 85. He was born July 1, 1926 in Wolfe City, TX to James H. and Omah (Echols) Wells. Mr. Wells worked over 25 years at the Ritz Theater in downtown McKinney and the McKinney Drive Inn as a projectionist. From 1964 to his retirement in 1981, he was a school custodian for McKinney Independent School District. He is also a member of the Family Worship Center in McKinney. Mr. Wells is survived by his nieces and nephews: Kim Johnson and her husband Larry of Murphy, TX, Holly Spiva and her husband Tim of Wildorado, TX, Scott Wells and his wife April of Canyon, TX and Wally Wells and his wife Debbie of McKinney and numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death are his parents and brother and sister-in-law, John Franklin and Joann Wells. James loved people and enjoyed selling popcorn on the McKinney Square during his retirement. He was well known and loved by many and thrilled when people recognized him from his days at McKinney High School and the Ritz Theater. He was a very kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and most of all; he loved his Lord Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 11, 2011 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. The family will receive guests one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery, McKinney.
