James Morris “Jim” Walker, 94, of McKinney, Texas, passed away September 8, 2013, in McKinney. Jim was born December 21, 1918, in Parker County, Texas, to Marion Andrew and Willie Maude (Smart) Walker. He married Edna Frances Payne on September 7, 1940, in Glen Rose, Texas. Jim retired from Texas Power & Light after forty years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and playing golf at Eldorado Country Club. Jim was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of McKinney.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Walker, of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Glynda Walker Burke, and husband, Al, of Allen, Texas; son, Gary Walker, and wife, Mary Beth, of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Don Pool and wife, DJ, of Fairview, Texas; Jeff Pool of Allen, Texas; Leigh Walker Bowman and husband, Robert, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Kate Walker Raidt and husband, Daniel, of Nashville, Tennessee; Jackie Burke Davis and husband, Luke, and Jessica Burke Strack and husband, Jonathan, both of Conway, Arkansas; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Wednesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
