James Bryan "J.B." Toler

J. B. Toler, a longtime resident of Plano, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009, in Allen, Texas. J. B. was born June 10, 1929. He married Helen Marie Brazell in Plano in 1950. J. B. was a member of the West Allen Church of Christ. He became one of the first policemen with the city of Plano in 1959. J. B. was the Police Chief in Plano from 1961 until his retirement in 1975. He retired to Tyler where he worked as a bailiff in Smith County, retired a second time, and returned to Plano. He is survived by his wife, Helen; step-daughter, Jean Toler and husband, Nolen, step-son, Pat Taylor and wife, Francis, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan and Myrtle Toler, brother, Perry Ray Toler, daughter, Carolyn Toler Vandiver, and grandson, Brandon Vandiver. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 P.M., Monday evening at the funeral home.
