James Lingan Spicer

Mr. James Lingan Spicer, age 91, of Wylie, Texas passed away November 8, 2006 in Allen. He was born February 15, 1915, in Cambridge, Maryland to Theophilous and Ada (Griffith) Spicer. On May 30, 1941, he married Ruth Johnson in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2000. Mr. Spicer was a member of the Sons of The American Revolution, Vice President of American Casualty Company and past President of Montgomery County Board of Realtors. Mr. Spicer was a long-time member of Optimist International where he was a past Governor in the Capital-Virginia District. He proudly served as a Captain in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Spicer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in McKinney, Texas. He is survived by his daughter, Carole Lowe and husband, Brian of Wylie, Texas; grandsons, Kenneth Tyler Lowe of Wylie, Texas, Eric Jeffrey Lowe of Baltimore, Maryland and a number of other family members and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2006 at the First United Presbyterian Church in McKinney 2000 W. White Avenue, Rev. John Blacklock officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
