James Eugene Smith

James Eugene Smith, age 62, of Plano, Texas passed away May 11, 2010. He was born January 12, 1948 in Moberly, Missouri to Bill Smith and Martha “Betty” Elizabeth Walker. On October 21, 1978 he married Barbara Piram in St. Louis, Missouri. James received his accounting degree from Truman State University. He graduated from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri with a Master’s Degree in Finance. He began his career with SBC in 1969. James was an accounting director with AT&T and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Rotary club in Plano, Texas and the past treasurer of Grace Presbyterian Church. James was an avid golfer and loved taking his children and grandchildren boating. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith of Plano, Texas; daughters, Kelley Smith Mangrum and husband, Earl of St. Louis, Missouri, Jamie Smith and boyfriend, Jerod Bowers of Dallas, Texas; son, Matt Smith and wife, Nikki of Pflugerville, Texas; parents, Bill and Betty Smith of Moberly, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Michelle Smith of Lindale, Texas; sister, Carol Smith of Moberly, Missouri; grandsons, Wesley Smith of Lindale, Texas and Garrett Smith of Pflugerville, Texas; nephew, Andy Miller of Ft. Stewart, Georgia and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Smith; grandparents, Blanche Walker, Jim and Bessie Smith. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Grace Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bryan Stamper officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen Texas. John Salas, Jim Joyce, Jay Bagby, Keith Ahsmuhs, Don Martin and Brian Hobbs will serve as pallbearers. SPC US Army Andy Miller will serve as honorary pallbearer.
