James Rutland "Pitch" Procter

James Rutland Procter of McKinney, Texas passed away October 23, 2015 at the age of 77. He was born July 14, 1938 to Charles Wantland Procter and Ernestine (Koch) Procter in Palestine, Texas. James married Rose Rojas on June 19, 1965 in Fort Worth, Texas. He served his country proudly as a Captain in the United States Marines serving in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot. James was a 1960 graduate of Texas Christian University where he earned degrees in Math and Physics and where his father was professor of law. He was a pilot for American Airlines for thirty-one years. James was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife Rose Procter; sons, John Michael Procter and wife Julie Ruffeno Procter of Houston, Texas and Dr. Brian Charles Procter and wife Melissa Rector Procter of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, James MacDonald Procter, Kaitlyn Rose Procter, Keira Colleen Procter, Cade Holway Wynn, Reese Jordan Wynn; brother, Charles Werner Procter of Pilot Point, Texas; sister, Nancy Marion Procter of Fort Worth, Texas; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Dallas Fort-Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service.
