James L. Pope, age 87, of Dallas, Texas, passed away January 15, 2011, in Dallas. James was born November 24, 1923 in Enloe, Texas, to James J. and French (Slough) Pope. He married Betty Helen Terry on January 10, 1945 in Dallas, Texas. James was a plant foreman for fifty-one years at Trinity Industries. He loved his work, his wife, and his family. James sacrificed many things so that others could benefit, especially for his family. After retirement, James loved to listen to gospel music and travel with his wife. James was a member of Lakewood Assembly of God in Dallas. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Betty Pope of Dallas, Texas; brothers-in-law, Jolly Edgar Terry of Van Alstyne, Texas and Eddie Terry of McKinney, Texas; sister-in-law, Carol Rigo also of McKinney; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Myrtle O’Fallon and Tressie Snyder. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery in Melissa, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
