James Ross Petty, age 81, of Plano, Texas, passed away on March 8, 2012. He was born March 19, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Manley Ross and Lela (Winkles) Petty. On May 6, 1953, James married the love of his life, Jackie. He proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. Dad was a good family man and husband. He enjoyed spending time with his children and loved hearing stories about his grandchildren. In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman; and particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his children, Bill Petty and wife Vivian of Rockwall, Texas, Tim Petty and wife Jan of Wimberley, Texas, Leigh Ann Bennett and husband Bob of Lake City, Florida, Jim Petty and wife Deborah of Richardson, Texas, Bob Petty and wife Stacey of Austin, Texas, Julie Easty and husband Allen of Katy, Texas; sister, Mary Lee Keith and husband H.C. of Westminster, California; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other loving family members and friends.
James is preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; and parents, Manley Ross and Lela Petty.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
