James "Jim" O. Hembree

James “Jim” O. Hembree of McKinney passed away April 17, 2012 at the age of 79.  He was born April 3, 1933 to Lester and Lois (Wood) Hembree in Duncan, Oklahoma.  He is a graduate of Texas Christian University where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Business.  In 1957 Jim married Dorothy Miller in Fort Worth, Texas.  Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marines. His careers included oil and gas, banking and for the last 22 years real estate.  He was an active member for 35 years at First Baptist Church Richardson before moving to McKinney and continuing his involvement at First Baptist Church McKinney.  Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Miller Hembree of McKinney, daughters, Laura Heinrichs and husband Darrell of McKinney, Carol Messick and husband Carter of McKinney, Susan Armstrong and husband Brent of McKinney; brother, Bud Hembree of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sister, Billye Hembree Lege of Louisiana; grandchildren, Hunter Heinrichs, Emily Messick, Michael Messick, Christopher Armstrong, Allison Armstrong, Kimberly Armstrong; niece May Miller of McKinney; great-nieces, Tooti and Twinkie Miller of McKinney and a host of other loving family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at First Baptist Church McKinney.  The family will receive friends during a memorial visitation Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request any gifts be in the form of donations to the Uganda Medical Mission Team at First Baptist Church McKinney.
