James Paul Gumpert, Jr., age 63, of Princeton, Texas passed away August 6, 2011. He was born July 13, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to James Paul Gumpert, Sr. and Floy Louise (Tucker) Gumpert. James proudly served in the United States Navy. On November 4, 2000 he married Cindy Kubacek. James was an avid bowler and a member of the American Bowling Association. He enjoyed coaching his son’s Little League Baseball team, traveling, playing softball, card games, all local sports teams and collecting their memorabilia. The State Fair of Texas and a 4th of July Celebration were an annual event with his family. Spending time with his grandchildren and watching their sporting events gave him great joy. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia K. Gumpert of Princeton, Texas; son, Tim Gumpert and wife, Nicole of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Donna Marie Mitchell and husband, Bobby Allen of Anna, Texas; six grandchildren, Darrell Mitchell, Jr., Daniel Paul Mitchell, Wesley Michael Busby, Blake Thomas Gumpert, Anthony James Gumpert and Ashleigh Nicole Gumpert; great-grandson, Thomas Christopher Mitchell; sister, Doris Perkins and husband, George of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brothers, J.C. Blackwell, Eugene Kirchenbauer and wife, Connie, Ronnie Kirchenbauer and wife, Linda; sisters, Sissy Blackwell, Sandy Vaughn and husband, J.D., Debbie McLendon, Charlotte Mosley and a very large extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Dr. Danny Buster officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas. Memorials may be made to the James Gumpert Memorial Fund. A memorial fund has been established at Legacy Bank of Texas.
