James Jewell Free age 79, of Princeton, Texas, passed away on February 24, 2009. He was born on November 3, 1929 in McKinney, Texas to Elmer R. and Evalena (Blount) Free. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He did basic training in Georgia and then was stationed in Alaska and Ft. Hood. He worked for many years as the Water Superintendant for the City of McKinney. Following retirement from the City of McKinney, he worked for Culleoka Water Supply. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his brother, John Free of Denison, Texas; sisters, June Mitchell of Denison, Texas and Fay Peters and husband Harvey of Arlington, Texas; brother-in-law, Harve Gibson, Sr. and sister-in-law, Hazel Free both of McKinney, Texas; dear nephew, Timothy Gibson of Princeton, Texas and many nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Evalena Free; brother Harold Free and sister, Patsy Gibson. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2009 at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas, with the family officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
