James Louis Ellis

James Louis Ellis, age 84, of McKinney, Texas passed away September 29, 2011. He was born April 14, 1927 in Collin County, Texas to Newt Dale Ellis and Hallie Mae (Gillespie) Ellis. James proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II. On January 5, 1951 he married Eva Loyce Sorrell in McKinney, Texas. James retired from Texas Power and Light after 37 years of service. He served as a Deacon at Davis Street Church of Christ, Westside Church of Christ and High Pointe Church of Christ until 1996 when he received a heart transplant. He is survived by his wife, Eva Sorrell Ellis of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Lynna Collins of Blue Ridge, Texas; son, James Ellis, Jr. and wife, Laura of Greenville, Texas; grandchildren, Lynn Langwell and husband, Robert, Cody James Collins, Blake Ellis and Connor Ellis; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Wyatt Langwell; brother, Melvin Ellis of Forney, Texas and Jack Ellis of Wylie, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Smith; brothers, Bobby and Dale Ellis. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2011, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Brother Frank Morgan and Brother Doug Bickenbach officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Saturday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
