IN LOVING MEMORY

James Coy Culberson

Oct 21 1941 - Oct 29 2015

James Coy Culberson, age 74, passed away on to a glorious life on Thursday, October 29, 2015, after a five year battle with lung cancer. He was born in Windom, Texas, the second son to Faye (Issac) and Coy Odell Culberson. James spent the majority of his life in Melissa, Texas.   He operated several businesses in McKinney over the years starting in the mid 70’s. James and Ben West owned the ARCO service station on University Drive for several years. He then had an independent garage on Tower Lane and Kentucky Street. James changed that business into a “preowned” (as he liked to say) furniture store. He later had a vending business with locations around McKinney. But his all-time favorite and the last position he held was his courier/delivery business. James put a lot of miles on several Chevy Express Vans. He loved interacting with people, but most of all he loved helping anyone out who was in need. His heart was as big as the universe. James will miss his special friends at IHOP; Adan, David, Alecia, Diego, Martin and Charlene. They always knew what he wanted. Breakfast was a life saver and life extender for him. It was the highlight of his day. James will be missed everyday by each and every one.

He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Mary; children, James Darrell Culberson and wife, Tammy of Arlington; Timothy Coy Culberson and wife, Tracy of McKinney; granddaughters, Amber Woolard of Arlington and Hannah Coy Culberson of McKinney; sisters, Nita Mounger of Savoy and Georgia Copeland of Bonham; brothers, Dug Culberson of Frisco and Ronnie Culberson of Melissa; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends, too many to mention.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff of Amity Hospice; the whole staff was incredibly professional and helpful during a very difficult time, especially our wonderful Michelle. Thank you Dr. Hasan and Jan Wheat, Nurse Practitioner, for your care and concern.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Amity Hospice in James memory. That would be a blessing. One day this horrible disease of lung cancer and all other cancers will be eradicated.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will immediately follow at Melissa Cemetery in Melissa, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service.
