Jacqueline Bly Hughes

Mrs. Jacqueline Bly Hughes, age 84, of Allen, Texas passed away August 3, 2009, at home surrounded by her family. She was born June 25, 1925, in Pocahontas, Arkansas to J. Elbert Bly and Ruth (Jackson) Bly. On November 23, 1947, she married William Hughes. She was a graduate of Pocahontas High School and Ouachita Baptist University. She taught school 30 years in Arkansas, Ohio and Texas, and in 1986 retired from Plano Independent School District after teaching 14 years. Mrs. Hughes was a member Alpha Delta Kappa, Facilitator for Lay Renewal Weekends, did short term mission work in China and Australia; she was active in the prison ministry for many years, volunteered with Baptist General Convention of Texas and Mission Service Corp for many years. Mrs. Hughes was known for her love of life, love of God and love for her family. She enjoyed traveling, working in various Christian ministries and serving her church. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Hughes; daughter and sons-in-law, Pam Tarbutton and Pete of Brenham, Texas, Rhonda Dickson and Ricky of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Matt Tarbutton, Spc. William Tarbutton and his wife, Candice; step grandchildren, Andy Tarbutton and Christy Adame; great-grandchild, Jackie; special grand dog, Bear; and sister-in-law, Mary Elliott and her husband, Don. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Mr. John Reglin and Dr. Jerry Carlisle officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
