Jack Harold Furr

Jack Harold Furr of McKinney, Texas passed away April 29, 2013 at the age of 84. He was born December 6, 1928 to Clarence L. and Jessie M. (Robinson) Furr in Rhea’s Mill, Texas. Jack grew up in Collin County where he lived all of his life. He was a 1946 graduate of Prosper High School. Jack married Glenna “June” Welborn on October 13, 1951 in Chambersville, Texas. He was a farmer, an avid golfer, enjoyed reading, playing bridge and playing “42”. Jack was a devoted fan to the Texas Rangers. He was a long time member of Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife June Furr of McKinney, Texas; children, James Furr and wife Rhonda of Houston, Texas, Rhonda Jackson and husband Robert of Frisco, Texas, Karen Garner and husband Roy of Rockwall, Texas, Jana McGlone of Grapevine, Texas and Richard Furr and wife Lori of Flower Mound, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Shaw of Denton, Texas and a host of other loving family and friends.  

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jessie Furr; brothers, Gerald Furr, Ralph Furr and Dale Furr.  

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church, 5733 N. Custer Road, McKinney, Texas 75071. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
