J T Beck

Johnnie Theodore Beck, 95, went to be with God on July 12, 2009 at the Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 11, 1913 in Valdasta, TX as the fifth of seven children born to Joseph Cleve and Grace Walden Beck. He married Mozelle Stewart on July 20, 1937. He and his beloved wife reared 14 children. He was enlisted in the United States Army in 1944 during WWII and received an honorable discharge. He had many careers during his life including positions with Ford Motor Company working on the assembly line, Owens Country Farms as a meat processor and working in West Texas harvesting grain. He was truly a man of many talents who did whatever he had to in order to provide for his family. He and his wife attended the First Pentecostal Church of Van Alstyne for many years. He is survived by 14 children and their spouses: Shirley and Gary Lorance of Van Alstyne, Cynthia Rostyne of Denison, Jerry and Arlene Beck of Van Alstyne, Larry Beck of Calera, OK, Sue Burk of Van Alstyne, Jackie Beck of Kemp, OK, Dale Beck of Denison, Kay and Bobby Nelson of Denison, Ronnie and Brenda Beck of Leonard, Cathy and Larry Green of Marietta, OK, Vickey Gunter of Van Alstyne, Karen Rainey of Sherman, Gary and Mara Beck of Whitewright and Steve and Christi Beck of Whitewright, one sister Beatrice Pinion of Sherman, 33 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mozelle in 1998, three sisters, two brothers, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright, TX. Family night will be on Tuesday July 14, 2009 from 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday July 15, 2009 at 11:00am in the chapel of the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Smallwood officiating. Pallbearers will be Greg Rostyne, Charlie Westdyke, Lynn Dhane, Dennis Hall, Justin Dhane and Shawn Powell. Interment will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery.
