Mrs. Ivas Ouida Sportsman, age 72, of McKinney, Texas, passed away June 4, 2004, in Plano, Texas. She was born May 9, 1932, in Colmesneil, Texas, to Thomas Wesley and Motie Ouida (Simpson) Sheffield. She married Billy Windham Sportsman on April 13, 1950, in Port Neches, Texas. She owned Bill Sportsman & Associates Real Estates, Inc. and was a member of the First Baptist Church of McKinney. Mrs. Sportsman was a former member of the McKinney School Board, the McKinney Camp Fire Girls Counsel, and the Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was a devoted McKinney Lions football fan. She is survived by her daughters, Karen “KK” Taylor and husband, Scott, and Sharon “Binky” Ragon and husband, Mark, all of McKinney; grandchildren, Ryan and Ginny Lanier, Billy and Amy Lanier, Randall Sportsman Ragon, Kate Ragon, and Cameron Taylor, all of McKinney; great-grandchildren, Hailee Ivas Lanier, Colton Robert Sportsman Lanier, Billy Ty Sportsman Lanier, and Corey Byard; brothers, Glen Sheffield of Port Neches and Marvin Sheffield of The Woodlands, Texas; sister, Jewell Pittman of Jacksonville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 2 sisters, Gayle Roberts and Sharon Graham. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Monday, June 7, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of McKinney. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Memorials may be made the First Baptist Church of McKinney or the Samaritan Inn.
