Mr. Isome Stroud Gathright, age 85, of Abilene, Texas passed away February 5, 2007 in Plano. He was born January 1, 1922, in Saratoga, Arkansas to Lonnie and Leoma Bridgeman Gathright. Mr. Gathright was a Building Contractor and Land Developer for forty-eight years. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII where he received the Purple Heart. He is survived by wife, Patsye Gathright; son, Kenneth Gathright and wife, Carolyn of Plano, Texas; daughter, Teresa Valentine and husband, Jerry of Allen, Texas; brothers, Kirby Gathright of Rowlett, Texas, Elmer (Sonny) Gathright of Quitman, Arkansas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roland, Don, Coy, Billy Fred and one sister, Mary Elizabeth. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, February 8, 2007, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, McKinney, Texas with Dr. Mark Forrest officiating. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Abilene, Texas with Rev. Dr. Tom Lyda officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Wednesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
