Isabel Chavez Velasquez passed away January 13, 2017 at the age of 67. She was born on May 7, 1949 to Cesar Chavez Desmaison and Maria Estela Velasquez Vela in Lima, Peru. Isabel was raised in Peru and had two children, Mayra Isabel Arequipeno Carrier and Carlos David Barrios Chavez. She worked as a nanny and a pastry chef in addition to being a wonderful mother.
In October 2010, Isabel immigrated to the United States to be with her daughter and grandchildren. She worked as a custodian for Lewisville ISD and Prosper ISD. Isabel was a hard worker and loved by teachers and colleagues.
She was known for always having a positive attitude and an infectious laugh. Isabel loved to cook, watch movies, and play with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Carlos Barrios Chavez; her daughter, Mayra Carrier; her son-in-law, Scott Carrier; her four grandchildren, Rachel, Evelyn, Elliot and William Carrier; and many other loving family and friends.
Isabel was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
