IN LOVING MEMORY

Ione Davis Nedrow

Sep 07 1930 - Jun 13 2009

Ione Davis Nedrow, aged 78, of McKinney, Texas passed away peacefully on June 13, 2009 at McKinney Medical Centre after a short illness. She was surrounded by all of her adoring family, who will miss her loving presence in their lives forever. Ione was born on September 7, 1930 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Everett Nelson and Ruth (Bingham) Davis. Everett died when Ione was seven and Ione had more than the usual child’s responsibilities for looking after her mother. When she was very young her parents had moved to Humboldt, Nebraska, where she graduated from high school, having participated fully in the usual clubs and activities and playing first chair saxophone in the high school band. During her high school years she also cared daily for two elderly aunts. On July 22 1950 Ione married Don Nedrow of Verdon, Nebraska. The couple had four children: Marcy, Michael, Craig and Cindy. In 1964, the family moved to Dallas, the city Ione came to love, partly because she no longer had to shovel snow from the sidewalks in the winter. She worked for many years at Texas Instruments and subsequently for a dental supply company, prior to becoming the co-owner of The Cleaning Company for over 25 years, with her husband. Don and Ione recently moved to McKinney to be nearer to two of their children; they became members of the Four Corners Church in Plano, Texas year. Ione’s family was everything to her. She brought her mother to live with her husband and herself as soon as soon as the children began to arrive. In recent years her joy was unsurpassed by the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as more opportunities for travel around the United States and to Europe. Ione and Don always enjoyed music and dancing together. She was a wonderfully creative person, an excellent seamstress, a painter and ceramicist . She is survived by her husband, Don; her daughters, Marcy Carpenter of London, England and Cindy Cross of Highland Village, Texas; her sons, Mike Nedrow of Charlotte, North Carolina and Craig Nedrow of McKinney; her grandchildren: Jason, Erin, Stephanie, Daniel, and Courtney Cross, and Annie Nedrow; and her great-grandchildren, Carson, Kennedy, and Carter Cross, and Dru Ochenski.
