Funeral Services for Ima Nell Netherton McLain, 95 year old Leonard resident, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 3, 2015 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Brother David Hawkins and Chaplain Mike Hermanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Leonard Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 P.M. Friday January 2, 2015 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard.

Nell was born March 23, 1919 in the Valley Creek Community, delivered by her mother’s cousin, Dr. Lewis Watkins. Her parents were John Howard (Jack) and Dora Leona Bradley Netherton. She graduated from Leonard High School in 1936. She married Thomas Gerald McLain November 17, 1943 at Leonard. She was a member of the Valley Creek Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist for many years. She also worked as a telephone operator, caregiver and Licensed Vocational Nurse. She passed away Tuesday December 30, 2014 at the Leonard Manor.

She is survived by her daughters: Judith Nan (Judy) Irwin and son-in-law Bob Irwin of Mabank, TX and Sharon Beth Loughry of Leonard, TX; her son: Gary Owen McLain and daughter-in-law Sue McLain of San Jose, CA.

Her surviving grandchildren are grandson Terrance Earl (T.J) Loughry of Austin, TX; granddaughters: Lindsey Layne Loughry of Austin, TX, Heather Rhea Caronna of Kemp, TX, Shanna Lee Irwin-Coury of Poetry, TX, Holley Leane Connors of Concord, CA and Courtney Nikole Walters of Fruitvale, TX.

She is also survived by her great granddaughters: Kyli McLain, Hanna Barron and Ryanne Walters of Fruitvale, TX, Muireann and Maggie Caronna of Kemp, TX, Caitlin Connors of Concord, CA; and her great grandsons, Dalton Irwin-Coury of Poetry, TX, Riley Connors of Concord, CA and Jack Caronna of Kemp, TX.

Survivors also include step-granddaughter, Heather Loughry Marshall of Bloomington, IL; step-grandsons Parker, Grant, and Luke Marshall of Bloomington, IL; cousins Sue Threadgill of San Antonio, TX and Frances Bunch of Leonard, TX; as well as a number of loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Howard Netherton, Jr., and a sister, Nan Netherton Fox, and her son-in-law Terry Loughry.
