IN LOVING MEMORY

Huel Thomas "H.T." Groce

Nov 19 1924 - Sep 24 2015

Huel Thomas “H.T.” Groce passed from this life surrounded by his family on September 24, 2015 after a long and happy life. He was born on November 19, 1924 in Arlington, Texas and grew up in Dallas, attending Adamson and North Dallas high schools before graduating from Crozier Tech. After high school he enlisted in the army and served in World War II in the Ardennes campaign including Bastogne at the Battle of the Bulge. When he returned, he attended SMU for a year before beginning work in the insurance business. He established his own insurance and real estate company in Oak Cliff until he relocated to Plano in 1972. There, he and his wife, Bobbie D. Groce who survives him, started a successful real estate and home building company, Parade Realty, from which they retired in 1982.

H.T., as he was known to most friends and associates, was a generous, kind and selfless man who was liked and remembered fondly by all who knew him. He enjoyed traveling around the USA and had the time to do a lot of it during a three and a half decade retirement. He enjoyed a day at the races or a friendly poker game. However, what he loved most was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren all of whom loved him dearly.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons and daughters-in law Larry and Sandra Groce of Charleston, West Virginia and Gary and Mae Groce of Wylie, Texas, daughter Janna Timm of Wylie, Texas, sister and brother-in-law Delores and Charles Sublette of Colleyville, Texas, grandsons Travis Timm of Austin, Texas and Taylor Timm of San Marcos, Texas, granddaughter Janelle Groce of Wylie, Texas and granddaughters Virginia and Bonnie Groce of Charleston, West Virginia.

There will be a celebration of Huel’s life at 5pm on Thursday, October 1 at the Southfork Hotel in Plano. The family wants to sincerely thank Robin Dodson and Mary Tyszko for their help during the past few months. In lieu of flowers please do something kind for someone you love.
