Hoyt Lynn Wilson

HOYT LYNN WILSON, 83, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2013 in Memphis, Tennessee after a brief illness. Hoyt was one of eight children born to Eugene Leonard Wilson and Annie Mae Spain in Trenton, Texas on November 5, 1929.

Hoyt was reared in Trenton and Denton, Texas, where he met and married Marilyn Bowdoin Merritt. After attending North Texas State University, he began a successful career with Moore Business Forms. During the 1970’s he and Marilyn moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he established a printing and advertising business, Forms Plus Incorporated.

Hoyt served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class during the Korean War. He enjoyed the art of and excelled in barbequing smoking ribs and brisket. He will be missed by his many friends at Gibson’s donuts where he “Held Court” as a regular most days. Hoyt will be best remembered by his family and many friends for his humor and optimistic outlook on life.

Hoyt is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Merritt Wilson of 56 years, as well as his parents.

He is survived by his sister, Jane Oliphant of Marble Falls, Texas; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 14 at Burns Cemetery in Trenton, Texas. A funeral service will immediately follow at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Whitewright.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Missions in Walls, MS, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice.
