Dr. Howard Richard Johnson, Jr., age 84 of Plano, Texas passed away on January 1, 2006, in Plano, Texas. He was born on April 30, 1921 in Springfield, Illinois to Howard Richard and Minnie (Whitfield) Johnson, Sr. He married Lee Ora Cheatham on June 23, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. During World War II, Dr. Johnson was a retired Podiatrist and a member of the McDermott Road Church of Christ. He was a deacon at the Park Road Church of Christ in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for many years and was dedicated in his support of Christian education and missions. Dr. Johnson graduated from Illinois College of Podiatry in 1950. He practiced in Shawnee, Ada, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, for almost 50 years. He was a past president of the Oklahoma Podiatry Association and a Fellow in the American College of Foot Surgeons. Dr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 60 years Lee Johnson of Plano, Texas; children, Sue Holcomb and husband, Dan of Dallas, Texas, Rick Johnson and wife, De of Grey Forest, Texas, and Pat Hendry and husband, John of Plano, Texas. Grandchildren, Chris Holcomb, Steve Holcomb, Richard Johnson, II, Julia Russell, Zachary Johnson, Holly Tramell, Jennifer Mann, Amy Blueitt, and Matt Hendry; 13 great grandchildren, and sister, Ellen Machado of Sunnyvale, California. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2005, at 10:30 at the McDermott Road Church of Christ with Tim Pyles officiating. Interment will be Thursday, January 5, 2005, at 1:00 at Elmwood West Cemetery in Abilene, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 3, 2005, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
