Howard Edwin Johnson, age 75, of Murphy, Texas, passed away on January 24, 2016. He was born May 11, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Howard William and Margaret Ann (Wright) Johnson.
Howard never met a stranger and would quickly come to the aide of anyone in need. His love for his family and friends was only matched by his zeal for life and adventure. Often described as the most generous person known, Howard earned the love of many in all aspects of his life. As the husband of his bride, father of three children, Poppy to three grandchildren, brother of two sisters, brother-in-law to ten, and uncle to 21 nieces and nephews, Howard was full of love for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Jima” Morgan Johnson of Murphy, Texas; son, Howie Johnson of Houston, Texas; sons-in-law, Rex Nichols of Louisville, Kentucky and Michael Laster of McKinney, Texas; and, grandchildren, Elizabeth and John Nichols of Louisville, Kentucky and Katelyn Laster of McKinney, Texas.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Margaret Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; uncle, Emler Johnson, of Chicago, Illinois; and, daughters, Margaret Nichols and Debbi Johnson, of Plano, Texas.
The family is grateful for the unending support and love from friends and family throughout their lives, but especially in recent years. The sudden loss of family members is never easy, but the loss of three in two years is even greater. The support and love that has been expressed is deeply and warmly appreciated.
A memorial service will be held at St. Marks Catholic Church on Friday, February 5, 2016. A Rosary will begin at 11:00am with a Mass following at 11:30am.
