Horace Lee Rushing

Horace Lee Rushing was born May 10, 1938 in Copeville, TX. He passed away in McKinney, TX on March 16, 2015, at the age of 76 years, 10 months, and 6 days. Horace, a member of the Church of Christ for over 55 years, was a part of the congregation in Melissa, TX.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Dean Rushing, of Pike, TX. Horace married Shirley Jean Dean on Oct 25, 1958. They were married for more than 56 years. They have three children: Jerry Rushing and wife Terisa of Pike, TX; Stacy Heit and husband Robert of Blue Ridge, TX; and David Rushing and wife Benieve of Allen, TX. He has five grandchildren: Daniel Heit and wife Lacy of Azle, TX; Dana Flowers and husband Micha of Whitewright, TX Rylee Rushing of Bryan College Station, TX; Brittyn Rushing of Pike, TX; and Eliana Rushing of Allen, TX.   Horace also has 3 great grandchildren: Michala Flowers, Benjamin Flowers, and Robert Loren Flowers all of Whitewright, TX.

He is also survived by three brothers and two sisters: Henry Joe Rushing of Sherman, TX; Glenn Dale Rushing of Athens, TX; Dee Rushing and wife Ilene of Princeton, TX; Nelda Sue Young of Trenton, TX; and Clois Rushing Agan and husband Richard of Winnsboro, TX.

He is survived by his mother-in-law Roxie Dean of Farmersville, TX; sister-in-law Peggy Cook and husband Bobby of Princeton, TX and MANY cousins, nieces, nephews, and a great number of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Odell Rushing and Mary Francis Huffman Rushing; one sister, Phyllis June Rushing McCarley, and five brothers, William Odell Rushing; Daniel Hogan Rushing; Charles Wesley Rushing; Bobby Jay Rushing; and Edward Lowell Rushing.

Visitation will be 6:00pm to 9:00pm Wednesday, March 18th at the Hurst Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville. Service will be 2:00pm, Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge with Rev. Frank Garner and Rev. Richard Garner officiating. Interment will follow at the Blue Ridge cemetery.
