Hollis “Buddy” Harold Atkins of Plano, Texas passed away on September 9, 2017 at the age of 81. He was born on July 19, 1936 to Bill and Dorothy (Kemp) Atkins in Van Alstyne, Texas. Buddy married Bonita Pell on June 8, 1956 in McKinney, Texas. He started working for the Plano Fire Department in 1966 as the 5th full time paid fireman in the department and retired in 1991 as Captain.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bonita Atkins of Plano, Texas; daughter, Vickie Harris and husband, Micheal also of Plano; granddaughter, Brittani Nevarez and husband, Jose of Wylie, Texas, great-grandsons, Bryant Leslie and wife, Emily of Stephenville, Texas, Isaac Nevarez of Fort Lee, Virginia and Junior Nevarez of Wylie, Texas; sisters, Dorothy Jean Caldwell of Van Alstyne, Texas, Annie Warden of McKinney, Texas; brother, Choice Atkins of Leonard, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dorothy Atkins; and his brother, Jimmy Houston Atkins.
A graveside inurnment will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2017 at Plano Mutual Cemetery in Plano, Texas.
