Herman "Red" Smith

Herman Calvin Smith of Allen, Texas passed away on June 27, 2016 at the age of 88.  He was born on August 31, 1927 to Noie Lee and Daisy Bertha (Franklin) Smith in Sulphur Springs, Texas.  Herman proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for various corporations such as Texas Instruments, Intercontinental and Dr. Pepper to support his family. He was a member of Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ in Dallas, Texas.

Herman is survived by his daughters, Sallie Smith, Herman Ann Oliphant and husband Wilfred all of Allen, Texas, and Linda Williams and husband Billy Ray; sons, John L. Young and wife Lillie of Denton, Texas, Frank Robinson and wife Katie, Johnny Robinson and wife Pam,; grandchildren, Erika Oliphant, Derrick Oliphant, Vivin Ray Smith, Tamesha Kay Smith, John Young, Jr., Jeffery Young, George Alfred Young, Kevita Young, Terry Houston and Rachuel Jones, Sam Whitmill, Pornell Robertson, Cornell Terrell, Jr., Ivan Terrell, Melody Williams, Darren Williams, Belinda Williams, LaQuana Williams; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, L.K. Smith, Lawyer D. Smith, Clee Smith, Jimmy Smith, and Floyd Smith; and sisters, Callie Doty, Eddie Jackson and Sallie Smith; son, Cornell Terrell; and grandson, Vincent Robertson.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening, July 1, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
