Herbert Yoehle

Herbert J. Yoehle passed away on June 9, 2011. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Herb was born in San Antonio, Texas on Feb. 23, 1932. He went to Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas. Herb received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Texas – majoring in Chemistry and Biology. He married Beverly Bloom on August 3, 1957, and their early married years were spent in San Antonio, Texas. First a move to Odessa, Texas where their son Chris was born. Then a move to Oklahoma City where their daughter Cindy was born. Herb worked for many years for Fox Photo of San Antonio, traveling around the country to their many plants. In the early 1980’s Herb opened Longhorn Photo in Richardson. Herb and Beverly relocated to McKinney’s Historic District in 1986, where they restored two old homes. Herb was active on McKinney’s first Historic Preservation Board, the Park Board and the Pecan Grove Cemetery Board. He was instrumental in having the Old Foote Church and the Dixie store moved to Chestnut Square in 1996. McKinney’s Chamber of Commerce presented Herb with The Heritage Award in 1997 for his Commitment to Preserving McKinney’s Rich Heritage. While serving on the Park Board he compiled the historic data required by the State for the installation of the Historic Markers in Collin County. Herb loved life, his wife, children, and his many friends. He will be missed forever. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2011, at First United Methodist Church in McKinney. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
