Herbert Lee Abbott of Princeton, Texas passed away May 30, 2012 at the age of 85. He was born March 6, 1927 to Cornish and Dena (Hollowell) Abbott in Littlefield, Texas. Herbert married Winnie Cotten on December 1, 1945 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corps. Herbert was a home builder in Princeton for many years prior to owning and operating Abbott Tractor Sales in Princeton. He also was a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton.
He is survived by his wife, Winnie Cotten; sons Larry Abbott and wife Sandra of Princeton, Texas and Terry Abbott and wife Diana of Princeton, Texas; grandchildren, Holly Osborne, Dena Moody, Tammy Pugh, Jason Abbott, Jake Abbott, and Madison Abbott; eight great grandchildren; sister, Frances Hall of Tyler, Texas.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Cornish and Dena Abbott; sister, Bertha Roper; brothers, Leonard “Ted” Abbott, Elton “Bob” Abbott, Tonnie “Babe” Abbott; Douglas “Tooter” Abbott, Hulett Abbott.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012 at Princeton Cemetery in Princeton, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
