Henry Pollard Irving, Sr., age 64, of McKinney, Texas passed away August 27, 2011. He was born March 7, 1947, in East Palatka, Florida to Robert U. Irving and Estella B. (Jones) Irving. On December 23, 1999, he married Linda Ruth Dansby in Dallas, Texas. Henry proudly served in the United States Army where he received several military honors, including National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal and two overseas bars. He worked for Job Corps in Gainesville, Florida and McKinney, Texas as a property warehouse manager for over 22 years. He enjoyed watching college and professional football, especially his Florida Gators; grilling out; western and war movies; and spending time with his family. Henry was a man of few words, and he had a generous heart. Henry was a member of Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Linda R. Irving of McKinney, Texas; special parents, Clifford and Dorothy Belle of La Crosse, Florida; special cousin, Kenny Powers and wife, Nancy of La Crosse, Florida; special uncle, Walter Filer of Providence, Florida; special aunt, Jessie Lee Jones of La Crosse, Florida; close personal friend, Ben Polk; brothers, Robert Irving, Jr. of McKinney, Texas, Willis Irving and wife, Betty of Gainesville, Florida, Edward Irving and wife, Delois of Denmark, South Carolina, Ronnie L. Irving and wife, Sharon of Heath Springs, South Carolina, Allen Rice and wife, April of La Crosse, Florida, Patrick Williams and wife, Renee of Brooker, Florida; brother-in-law, Charles Dansby of Melissa, Texas; sisters, Julia Ann Carnell and Yvonne Watson, both of Gainesville, Florida; sisters-in-law, Emmett Calhoun and husband, Earnest of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania and Patricia Washington of Arlington, Texas; children, Tranesa Gregg of Gainesville, Florida, Henry P. Irving, Jr. of Gainesville, Florida, Constance Melody McCoy and husband, Adrian of Gainesville, Florida, Cedrick Irving of Alachua, Florida, Dedra D. Ragland of Denton, Texas, Cassandra D. Ragland of Austin, Texas and Yul V. Ragland of Euless, Texas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Estella B. Jones; father, Robert U. Irving, Sr.; brother, Michael Irving; and sister, Williedell Hartwell. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
