Henry "Leon" Hand

Henry “Leon” Hand, of Tyler, Texas passed away October 22, 2012 at the age of 90.  He was born on October 26, 1921, in McKinney, Texas, to Jewel S. and Nellie Virginia Hand. Leon proudly served his country in the United States Army, during World War II. He was a store manager for Sears Roebuck in McKinney, Texas, Duncan, Oklahoma, Big Springs, Texas, Las Cruces, New Mexico and Conroe, Texas. Upon retirement, Leon moved to Tyler, Texas. He was a Mason and a Shriner. 

He is survived by his children, Brenda Hill of Tyler, Texas, Pam Douglas and husband Jerry of La Mirada, California, Larry Hand and wife Chela of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Brandi Hill of Tyler, Texas, Chad Douglas and wife Kristine of La Mirada, California, Jeff Hill and wife Diana of Tyler, Texas and Michael Hand of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Cole, Sean, Riley, Madison and Liam; numerous nieces and nephews.

Leon is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Marie (Gilbert) Hand; parents, J.S. and Nellie Hand; sister, Louise Hand; sister-in-law, Janet Gilbert; and grandson, Jeremy Douglas.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., on Friday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
