Helen Curtis Mitchell of Allen, Texas, passed away August 19, 2013, in Plano, Texas. Helen was born in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Floyd and Florence (Cox) Curtis. She was married to David Mitchell for fifty-six years. Helen was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lucas, Texas. She loved Jesus and was strong in her salvation. Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family, her pastor, and her church and enjoyed being a mentor and counselor.
She is survived by her husband, David Mitchell of Allen, Texas; daughters, Susan Kalash and husband, Jim of Rowlett, Texas, Lysa Richey and husband, Robert of Fairview, Texas, Marsha Wallesch of Allen, Texas, and Carol McFadden of east Texas; sons, Joseph Mitchell, also of east Texas and Charles Miller and wife, Heather of Sachse, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2013, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2242 W. Lucas Rd., Allen, Texas, 75002 and will be simultaneously broadcast online at cbclucas.org. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the church.
