Helen Benita (Carr) Meyer of Plano, Texas passed away on December 31, 2015 at the age of 81. She was born August 26, 1934 to Hiram Thomas, Sr. and Ella May (Watson) Carr in Slaton, Texas. Helen married Walter Alvin Meyer on December 26, 1955 in Brownfield, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2012. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Plano, Texas. Helen was also a member of Delta Zeta “DZ”. She was a professional educator with emphasis on special education. She was a business manager for Meyer’s Custom Pools.
Helen is survived by her children, Rodney Meyer and wife Rosie of Wylie, Texas, Diana Shropshire and husband Kerry of Granbury, Texas, Russell Meyer and wife Kathy of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Harris and husband Gene, Rodney Meyer and wife Staci, Cody Shropshire, Katelin Shropshire, Marilyn Meyer, Mitchell Meyer; great-grandchildren, Parker Meyer and Payton Meyer; brother, Dr. Hiram Carr and wife Charlyn; and sister, Alice Ruth Wiles.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday evening, January 2, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
