Helen Bernice Buescher McKean

Helen Bernice Buescher McKean of Heritage Ranch, Fairview, Tx. died peacefully at home on November 9th, 2013 attended by her family and caregiver. She was born March 15th, 1928 in Ottawa, Ohio where she grew up the youngest daughter of Fredrick and Clara Buescher.

Helen married the love of her life, William C. McKean in Elkhart, Indiana on May 30th, 1949. Bill’s career took the family to a number of cities, and finally to Dallas in 1964, where after raising her six children, Helen turned her energy and entrepreneurial talent to a career in retailing. During the 1980’s and 90’s, Helen owned and operated the William Ernest Brown Luxury Stationery Shops at The Dallas Galleria, The Crescent Court, and NorthPark Center.

She is survived and missed by her husband Bill, son William Blaine McKean of Fort Worth, Tx., daughters Judy McKean Shelton of Tampa, Fl., Carol McKean Armstrong of Savannah, Ga., Anne McKean Hill of Tampa, Fl., Libby McKean Mountford and husband Walt Mountford of Dallas, Tx., and Kristen McKean Bell of Denton, Tx. Also surviving Helen are 18 grandchildren, 10 great granddaughters and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers William “Billy” Buescher, Robert “Bob” Buescher, and sisters Betty Ann Buescher Bergman, and Jeanette Buescher Herbers, as well as her oldest grandson Jack William Shelton.

A private family Funeral Mass was held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Tx where Helen and Bill attended. In lieu of flowers please honor Helen through the charity of your choice.
