Helen J. Luscombe

Helen Janette Luscombe, age 84, of Allen, Texas, passed away on September 27, 2016.  She was born October 25, 1931, in Albany, Oklahoma, to Floyd and Susie Elizabeth (Castleberry) Tigner.  On June 1, 1965, Helen married James Andrew Luscombe, Sr. in Blue, Oklahoma.  She graduated from high school in Albany, Oklahoma, where she played basketball and softball.  Helen graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees.  She was a teacher for over thirty years, teaching in Austin, Sherman and lastly at Terrace Elementary in Richardson.  Helen loved to fish, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas A&M University and peanut patties.  She attended First Baptist Church in Plano, Texas and Chestnut Community Church in McKinney, Texas.

She is survived by her sons, Jim Luscombe and wife Robyn of Anna, Texas, Sam Luscombe and wife Tracy of Greenville, Texas; grandchildren, James Luscombe, III, Heath Luscombe and wife Kim, Tressie Wachowski and husband Brent, Elizabeth Schroeder and Amber Luscombe; great-grandchildren, Levi Luscombe, Tyler Luscombe, Mercedes Kempter, Dakota Luscombe, Avery Grace and Maddox Wachowski; sister-in-law, Martha McDowell; many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew Luscombe Sr.; first husband, Bill Nash; parents, Floyd and Susie Elizabeth Tigner; son, Tom Luscombe; grandson, John Luscombe; sister, Wilma Sue Dansby; brothers, Floyd Tigner, Jr. and Jack Tigner.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Anna, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
