Harry L. Riley

Harry L. Riley, age 90, of Allen, Texas, passed away April 7, 2010, in McKinney, Texas. Harry was born February 3, 1920, in Stinnett, Texas, to George Harrison and Molly (Fox) Riley. He married Frances Lee Iddings on December 23, 1942, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Harry enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and was the center on the football team in high school. He was a cheerleader in college. Harry performed a lot of remodification and development work during his career as a chemical engineer. He was a storyteller often called upon by nursing homes in McKinney to tell his stories and bring joy to those listening. Harry’s stories always had a kind and humorous wit that brought laughter to his audience. He was always fair and judicial in his dealings with others. Harry was a good father with the exemplary characteristic of being a good leader for his family. He was a generous and loyal friend, always ready to lend a hand. Harry was a compassionate and loving person who emphasized the importance of living life. He is survived by his wife, Frances of Allen, Texas; son, David “Dave” Riley and wife, Sue; daughters, Karen Riley and Donna Sue Riley; grandchildren, Kimberly Riley and Kyle Riley; nephews, James Riley, John Riley, Marvin Riley, and Lee Riley; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Pastor James Craver officiating. The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
