Harriet Lovas, age 88, of McKinney Texas passed away on Sunday June 28th, 2015 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Harriet was born November 5th, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana to parents Abraham Cohen and Lillian (Smith) Cohen. She married John Lovas September 10th, 1944 in Key West Florida. Harriet and John had three children Michael, Christine and Leslie, whom they raised in Dallas, Texas as well as Tulsa, Oklahoma and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Harriet is survived by her husband of 71 years, John Lovas of McKinney, Texas; daughters Christine Lovas Anderson of Blue Ridge, Texas and Leslie Lovas O'Neal and husband Stephen of Plano Texas; grandchildren David Marx and wife Liz of Frisco Texas, Scott Anderson and wife Amy of Blue Ridge, Texas, Amy Anderson of Frisco, Texas, Sean O'Neal of Tucson, Arizona, and Emily O'Neal of Denton Texas; great-grandchildren Sarah Marx of Frisco, Texas and Lilly Anderson of Blue Ridge, Texas; sister Clara Armstrong of Covington, Louisiana; and daughter-in-law, Pam Holloway Lovas.
Harriet was preceded in death by her son Michael Lovas of Spokane, Washington, son-in-law Don Anderson of Blue Ridge, Texas; sister Norma Carter of New Orleans, Louisiana, brothers Ernest Cohen and Earl Cohen of New Orleans, Louisiana.
A memorial service will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church of McKinney, Texas on Thursday July 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with a rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. A reception will be held following the service at the home of John Lovas.
