Harrell Lynn Davis

Harrell Lynn Davis, age 78, of Melissa, Texas passed away January 14, 2011. He was born February 19, 1932 in Anna, Texas to Jesse Davis and Warnenah (Randles) Davis. On December 2, 1955 he married Joan Weaver in Dallas, Texas. Harrell grew up in McKinney where he attended schools. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Harrell drove for Central Freight Lines for 30 years until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Waddill Street Baptist Church. Harrell enjoyed traveling and working in the yard. He is survived by his wife, Joan Davis of Melissa, Texas; sons, Ricky Davis and wife, Becky of Ponder, Texas, Randy Davis of Ft. Worth, Texas and Ronny Davis of Grand Prairie, Texas; grandchildren, Richard and Danni Jo Davis of Denton, Texas, Jennifer and Mark Hellums of Denton, Texas, Shawn Davis of Kaufman, Texas, Natasha Davis of Mansfield, Texas and Chelsea Curley of Cleburne, Texas; great-grandsons, Brennan Davis and Dominick Davis both of Kaufman, Texas; brother, Herbert Davis and wife, Luetta of Melissa, Texas; niece, Sherry Mackenzie of McKinney, Texas; nephew, Dwayne Davis of Melissa, Texas; special friends, Kay and Marlin Brandt of Bedford, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Davis and Warnenah Davis Stuart; sister, Viola; step-father, E.W. Stuart; mother-in-law, Jessie Davis and father-in-law, E.W. Weaver. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2011 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Woody Wilson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Sunday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Waddill Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 1401 N. Waddill Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
